ChrisGreaves Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 I'm in my first 24 hours, and loving it! Except (grin) .... I'd appreciate a pointer to a forum message that has solved my problem. (Or advice as to how to make files available for download.) For the time being my files are placed on the same server for TorontoVBA.com in an immediate subfolder /download/. I'm not trying anything fancy (yet) such as placing the files on a separate server. www.TorontoVBA.com I empty the shopping cart ("Your shopping cart is empty") I add the one item to the cart. I click the "Checkout" button and am told "This is currently the only shipping method available to use on this order. Flat Rate Best Way $5.00" I had expected to see a "Download" button or similar. I've re-read the documentation and made appropriate settings to the various options: (configure.php p16 of documentation.pdf 3/27/2006) define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'download/'); define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD_PUBLIC', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'pub/'); (Download p17 of documentation.pdf 3/27/2006) Enable download true Download by redirect true Expiry delay (days) 7 Maximum number of downloads 50 (Products Attributes) Filename: SetUpWord.zip Expiry 7 days Maximum download count 50 Thank you.

ChrisGreaves Posted October 11, 2008 Author Posted October 11, 2008 is your product WEIGHT set to 0?? That is what triggers the the shipping method.. Lindsay, thanks for the quick response. I have set weight to zero, but am now asked for my credit card on a $0.00 purchase. (I had anticipated making the first dozen or so videos Free Downloads, and charging for the rest, and hence thought to set up the online store before establishing payment methods). I enjoyed the installation procedure so much (!) I might purge my efforts and work through it all again to see if I'd missed a step. If a re-install resolved the problem, I'll post back here.

ChrisGreaves Posted October 11, 2008 Author Posted October 11, 2008 Yes, that was the idea. The first, say, five of any "training stream" would be free samples. If you like the first five and have learned something from them, then you'll be willing to lay out a small amount for other videos. A try-before-you-buy sort of option. OK. I must be particularly dense, or else just impatient (hah hah!). I followed your link and reached here(http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/3342) but couldn't see any sort of download button. (I am logged in as a member) I note that the only modules in my current setup are "Payment", "Shipping" and "Order Total". I am anticipating a fourth "Free of charge", right? I searched "oscommerce-2.2rc2a" folder on my hard drive for "free" but found nothing to clue me in. I appreciate your continued response. I feel sure that this is a just a first-day hurdle, perhaps coming to terms with the philosophy of OSCommerce. I'll add that I'm delighted with the ease of installation. I'm quite prepared to make a clean re-install once I've ferreted out all the kinks in my understanding. I've had more success already with OSCommerce than with another package that I will refrain from naming so as not to embarrass CubeCart. ChrisGreaves Posted October 11, 2008 Author Posted October 11, 2008 Yeee-hah! Found it. The little faded button bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Am now working out where to put the module/php. Thanks again. You are trying to give away FREE downloads? is that it?? check this out: free of charge payment mod.
