Attributes out of order

Hello-

 

I'm using product attributes for the first time. I'm using them for clothing sizes. For some of my products, the attributes are appearing out of order. What I would like is for them all to show from the top down as S,M,L,XL,XXL. But some products it's like this: S,M,XL,L, XXL or XXL, XL,L,M,S. How do I control the order in which they appear?

 

I know this info has got to be on the forums already somewhere, but these forums are so huge, every search gets thousands of results. So I gave up and am asking here.
