Adding thousands of links?

Hi,

I'm just wondering if anybody knows what the point would be of adding hundreds or even thousands of website links to your own site. Keep in mind that these links do not relate to your site at all and are nowhere near similar.

 

I've seen sites that just have a "More Links" section with thousands of website links on them. I thought at first that maybe all of the links listed were reciprocal links but in fact they were not.

 

These sites rank high in the search engine results and I'm wondering if all of these random links have something to do with it?

 

 

Anyways, any comments or advice would help.

wait till Google's algorithm changes then check back to see where there site is ranked ... they will be punished by Google for it
