NoddyAsh Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Hi, I only use the paypal which is in the default install. However, every few orders I get the payment ok but no order or details of the order. I take it the customer has simply closed the browser and not returned. I thus have to e.mail them to ask what they ordered which looks a tad unprofessional. I believe, reading though the pages and pages of this forum that the IPN Module will help solve this as I would least have a record of what they have ordered and can change it to delivered (all digital download sales). Have I got his correct? I'm concerned that in installing the Paypal IPN module will make things worse. Do I need to un-install the default Paypla module? Are there any simple instructions for installing the new one? The contrib seems to be in non-English. Is it the top file on contribution 2679 I need? i'e'. osCommerce_PayPal_IPN_v2.3.4.5 Thanks for reading. Russ Quote

As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.

NoddyAsh Posted October 5, 2008 Author Posted October 5, 2008 Russ Ok put it another way. How does the add-on Paypal IPN differ greatly from the default one? Thanks. Russ Quote
NoddyAsh Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 Hi, Still trying to understand why some orders are paid through paypal ok but then the database doesn't get updated and the order doesn't appear on their record. I get no 'order proceesed' e.mail as well. Is there a add-on or mthod I can use to add the order in later to keep the customers records up to date? I've looked at the database files and feel I will mess them up if I try to enter it, perhaps wrongly. Russ Quote
NoddyAsh Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 why? yes, it is correct, you clients can get the digital goods straight away after purchasing the product Because of my lack of knowledge. :-) I see I need cURL according to the install instructions. (or SSL cert) How do I know if I have this on my server? I've asked Customer Support there for that info. If the install doesn;'t work right can I revert back to the old paypal module OK? Do I need to remove this one fiorst or is it a different one altogether? See told you I was a noob. Russ Quote
