lady_moocher Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Hi I'm completely new to osCommerce and I'm wondering if it's the tool for this job. My client has a shop and he wants to have a site showing a selection of his products (about 50). Only some of them have prices, others don't. He doesn't want to actually run the site as an online shop, rather he wants people to browse the work and then call or email him to discuss the actual sale and delivery. I would like to use a catalogue because of the volume and because I'd like to encourage him to do his own updates of items and prices. Will osCommerce allow me to use the catalogue functionality, but switch off the shopping cart, sales part? And will it allow him to upload his own photos, add new items, amend their details etc very easily? He is completely non-technical. Thanks
♥geoffreywalton Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Yes but you will have to add a few contributions. Might even be able to stop "sales" using do nort sell out of stock product or just remove buy now buttons. Easy product upload functionality so OK there. web-project Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 "Yes but you will have to add a few contributions." Hi Geoffrey, can you clarify what you mean please? And can you remove buy now buttons easily enough? you will need to remove "buy now" button and all link to shopping cart and customer account. Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
