Hi,

I used to loggin automatically but I had to change my PC and loose all my saved usernames and passwords!

How can I setup my account again?

I think I'm using 2.2rc1 and I did not find any administrator table when using my phpMyadmin.

Thanks,

Hi,

I tried this: http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/5857

It says it was reset but then?

when I go to mysite/admin it ask a username and password!

Is there a default? I cannot remember as I installed osCommerce one year ago.

Thanks,

Have nt tried the contrib but I think it asks you to put a NEW username and password

ie you put a username and pass and it will be your NEW user and pass from then on

Well,

when I use reset.php it says Success and the message to delete reset.php and loggin

BUT

when I go to mysite/admin it opens a username and password and it returns an error which any "new ?" username and password. It does not ask a NEW admin username and password. It is just asking username and password...

If it's a small box appearing in the center of the page asking for the username/password it's .htaccess not osC

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

Yes it is. What should I do then?

Thanks.

There's usually a place in your Host's Control Panel (NOT OSC!) where you change that.

They're all different so I can't tell you exactly where or how.

If you can't find it, ask your Host.

in cpanel:

go to Security > Password Protected Directories > click on the admin directory > there you can add or change a user

that simple...

If you do not use Cpanel,or you cpanel does not allow password protect directories you can do this manually,.

You will need to encrypt your password, let me know if you need this as i have a file that you can use.

I asked my host and they said it is a oscommerce (admin username and password) problem and they cannot fix it. Suggested the same reset.php file that I had already run.

When checking Password Protect Directories it only lists my public_html directory and this cannot be password protected or no one can access my site! If I use FTP I can see my ADMIN directory under public_html but I cannot change usernames and password using CPANEL or FTP.

Use you Web Site control panel file manager, try to see if you can view your .htpasswrd file.

If you can then you can edit this yourself, let me know and i will post you the url to set your encrypted password

No I cannot see any .htpasswrd file.

I can see one .htaccess file in my public_html directory and another .htaccess file in my public_html/admin folder.

It will be one level up from public_html, or the level from where you see the public_html folder

You will not be able to see it from FTP it has to be from your web based control panel

Yes, I'm using File Manager from my CPANEL and not FTP.

I only can see a .htpasswds 750 directory and not file.

Inside this .htpasswds 750 directory there is no file, it is empty (or I cannot see it...).

We will create a new one then, will be easier as your .htaccess is already in place we just need to change the location on it.

go here put in your required user name and password then click get password. Copy the resulting line, it will look like

admin:dwm7/Q2z05OSA

I put in Admin for user name and admin for password, it returned the above code.

Log into your cpanel & go to your file manager, in the root directory (the first one you see)

You will see a folder called .htpasswds

Open the folder, and create a new one called Store (or whatever you like). Open the folder and click Create new folder again, name this Admin (or what ever you like), Open the new folder and click on create new file, name it passwd.

Click to open the passwd file and paste the user name and encrypted password you copied earlier, save the file and exit.

You have now set your password and user name, now we need to set up the .htaccess file so it knows the folder it is in is protected and where to look for the password and user name.

Let me know when you completed this

OK now look in your ADMIN / .htaccess

You will find code like

AuthType Basic

AuthName "staff only"

AuthUserFile "/home/xxxx/.htpasswds/store/admin/passwd"

require valid-user

Delete this and add the code above

You need to change the xxxx for your web cpanel username, save it try it you should find that it will work

Not working...

It shows the "staff only" title but when I enter the new username and password it does not work. I even tried to change all to your Admin / admin and it does not work.

I double checked the path also and it seems to be right...

I found the "old" .htaccess with the "old" username in my public_htm/admin folder. I did not delete it yet.

I also note that there is this script above my changes:

#<IfModule mod_php4.c>

# php_value session.use_trans_sid 0

# php_value register_globals 1

#</IfModule>

Is it a problem if my host is using php5.2.6?

Posted

I did say to delete it

>>Delete this and add the code above<<

in the last post.

The other code is commented out "#" so will be fine.

You should only have one .htaccess file in your admin directory

FIMBLE,

thanks it worked!

The problem was that I had typed (copy&pasted from your answer) ..../store/admin...

and I had created Store/Admin ....

Thank you so much and sorry for this trouble!
