osComNoob Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I installed the CVV2 addon and I am pretty sure I've done it correctly, there are no errors and the checkout form asks for the CVV2, and it even shows up in my database, but when I click to see the payment information, the Security Code is blank. I have tested it using my own card and it simply will not work. I've searched all over the web and spent hours combing through code trying to figure out why it is not showing... The credit card information shows up just fine. It's the CVV2 that's giving me a problem. What should I check for? All the code seems to look fine. What could it be? Any ideas? - Rich Quote
♥toyicebear Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 You are aware that its against Visa and Mastercards rules to store the CVV/CVV2 security codes? Breaking this rule can lead to fines up to 500.000 USD aswell as losing your merchant account, getting blacklisted from getting a new merchant account. If you are based in The States you might also get civil suits from customers on top of that. (Its a country were consumers loves to file suits) Quote Basics for osC 2.2 Design - Basics for Design V2.3+ - Seo & Sef Url's - Meta Tags for Your osC Shop - Steps to prevent Fraud... - MS3 and Team News... - SEO, Meta Tags, SEF Urls and osCommerce - Commercial Support Inquiries - OSC 2.3+ How To To see what more i can do for you check out my profile [click here]

♥toyicebear Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Hey toyicebear, do you think it will finally sink in (I doubt it). There is always hope.... When more and more cases of fines get know, it will help .. but most of those who have been fined have naturally keep it quite since they do not want customers and potential customers to know that it is/has been unsafe to buy at their shop. It is the owners of small web shops which will loose out because all these abuse and blatant disregard of basic security, it just makes customers not want to use cc for online payment in "unknown" smaller web shops. So in the end bigger well know shops will actually end up winning more customers due to this. It is not only the monetry loss that happens with hacking, it is also identity theft and the loss of trust. Quote

It is not only the monetry loss that happens with hacking, it is also identity theft and the loss of trust. Glad to hear there are some ethics police out there.... A client of mine has asked me to change their OS site to include a CCV2 code request. But they manually process their orders. Doesn't this make it pointless to have the CCV2 code since it won't show up in the database? Is it ever visible with a CCV2 module installed, or is it just for automatic verification? Do they need to finally have a payment gateway to make use of the CCV2 code? Thanks. HH Quote
achieve Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I have same problem, and am "pretty sure" that I have done everything correctly, but the CVV2 code is showing. Does the database needs to be altered for this extra field? Anybody have any ideas? Quote
