hi again all, i'm trying to restore a website for someone i know. theyve given me all the files for it; i've managed to upload it onto the ftp but i'm not sure where to go from there

1. Upload your backed up folders/files to the root of your website

2. Create a backup of the old database using phpMyAdmin

3. Create a blank online database using your web hosting control panel

4. "Import" your database backup into the blank online database using the phpMyAdmin provided by your hosts

5. Edit the two configure.php files manually to use the domain name and online DIR_FS pathways

6. Password Protect the osCommerce 'admin' folder using the Password or Directory Protection in your web hosting control panel

This is a manual installation which does not require you to run the whole Install procedure again.

If the old database no longer exists, except as a backup in admin/backups, then you won't be able to use the "Restore" function from osC Admin --> Tools --> Backups.

You need to create a blank database, if none exists, then download the database backup from admin/backups to your PC and then Import that into the new blank database using phpMyAdmin.
