lotty Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Hello wise ones, I am new to OS commerce and I get the following error when I first try to configure it. The webserver is not able to save the installation parameters to its configuration files. The following files need to have their file permissions set to world-writeable (chmod 777): /home/[...my site...]/www/catalog/includes/configure.php /home/[...my site...]/www/catalog/admin/includes/configure.php Is this a problem with the FTP I used when putting OS commerce on the server or with the database I put on? Is there an easy way to rectify it? Please help. Thank you.
germ Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 You can try using FTP to set the permissions to 777 Many times FTP fails and you need to login to your host cPanel and do it there. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. Thanks for the help Jim. I got it sorted, I didn't have access to the host cPanel, so I got the tech support at the host company to change the permisssions. Now for the next step. Let's hope that doesn't trip me up too! Fun weekend ahead.
