lindsayanng Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 I just got a fleeting error that was REALLY random and it DID scare me a bit. i did NO work on the site today.. NOTHING at all, and i looked at the site handful of times to look up price and show a few people my work. Well, i went to go on the site because i customer called and needed help with the site and i went on, and this error popped up: Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111) in /home/bscphoto/public_html/catalog/includes/functions/database.php on line 19 Unable to connect to database server! It also popped up on the customers side temporarily while i was trying to explain to her how to use cookies.. Well, i went back and pulled the site about about 3 minutes later and it was GONE the scare part, line 19 is where it calls for my username and password.. please help A great place for newbies to start Road Map to oscommerce File Structure DO NOT PM ME FOR HELP. My time is valuable, unless i ask you to PM me, please dont. You will get better help if you post publicly. I am not as good at this as you think anyways! If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. germ Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 If they did that, the error wouldn't be "fleeting", It'd be permanant (until you fixed it) and the catalog wouldn't display at all. They'll probably tell you the server had a hiccup and they fed it some Pepto Bismol and it's all good now. ;) If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
