Where to put the index file?

Hi

I am about to make my site live!!

In the root of my webspace I have a folder called catalog. Inside that is my Index.php file and the rest. To address the site I need to type www.mydomain.co.uk/catalog.

I would like to be able to address it as www.mydomain.co.uk.

Does my index file have to be in the root?

If it does I can strip all of the files and folders out of catalog and put them in the root. However it would be much neater and organised if I could have the index.php file in the root alongside the catalog folder.

I keep other bits and peices in my root so dont want them to get mixed up with the shop system.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Garry

PS Not an OSC issue but in th eaddress bar of a browser there is sometimes a small image before the HTTP:// . How do you do that?

You have to learn how to move the whole site to the root.. in order to do this, you have to change your configure.php files..

go to google and site

site:www.oscommerce.com/forums store in root

Theres a bunch of stuff that needs to be done..

for now, i just created a re-direct on my site so if someone types in mydomain.com it automatically brings then to the /catalog

You do need to move ALL the files to the root if you want the index in the root.
