germ
You don't have any meta-tags Ben! :o You need these three: <meta name="keywords" content="blah, blah"> <meta name="description" content="more blah"> <meta name="robots" content="index, follow"> The last one is the one that tells the robots to traverse your site. Here is a link describing the other two meta tags briefly: Meta-tags They go in the <head> section of the page. You can just "hard code" them in. There are contributions that adjust them with the content of the page. I used one called Easy Meta-tags. I don't have the link to it though. Without the keywords and content meta tags, the only way people will find your site on a search engine would be if they searched for your site name, I think. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. whitehawk43
What does the spiders.txt file do ? and what main php files do I add the meta tags to?
germ
Under Admin -> Sessions, set Prevent spider sessions to true. This setting works with the spiders.txt file (check the contribution area for the latest 'cuz you probably don't have it) to stop search engine spiders from indexing your site with oscid's in the url. You should add the meta tags to all the main php files. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. germ
Kinda going with web site optamiz. I thought we wanted spiders to list all our pages for search engines ? Oh you do!!! And all this does is stop them from having the oscid in the url when they do index it. If the oscid is in the url and people use it carts get switched, customer A sees customer B's info, all that bad stuff happens. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. germ
Oh. I just checked. Google is full of URL's from your site and a lot of them have the oscid in the url. :o In the admin set Recreate session to true. This will help, too If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. whitehawk43
Just got back from admin as was going to ask you about that ;) and some of the main php files have no head body tags in them so I would be right in thinking no mtea tags in those php files.....
