Import/Export products

Hi...I sure hope someone can help...thanks in advance.

I have a client w/ an osCommerce store (2.2 RC1) that was built by someone who just didn't have a clue as to what they were doing. It is so full of errors that I don't even know where to start.

There are about 100 products already in the store along w/ their attributes, photos, etc.

My idea was to basically just start over with a "fresh" store, so I have created another osCommerce store that is empty. (2.2 RC2a) However it would sure be nice to be able to export all the categories, products, etc.

What is the best way to export and then import the category and product information?

My exposure to osCommerce is VERY minimal...so please keep that in mind...or else I might have a brain freeze! :-)

Thank you so much one and ALL for your help in this,

Sue

you can just bckup and database and restore on the new site. You can do that through your cpanal or osc admin. all of the product info is held in the database.

A great place for newbies to start

If you do that, remember there will be database changes that need to be applied.

Check the extras directory.

Might be better to install Easy Populate, export the product catalog, do a clean install of rc2a, install Easy Populate and voila all the manu's, categories and products are there on the site. Remember to copy across your images.
