Nice looking site and I like the on-line mp3 player.

 

I find the prominent click here message slightly confusing.

 

And the resulting page is even more confusing but I can see exactly what you are trying to do.

1. THINGS TO CONSIDER AFTER PURCHASE, BUT BEFORE DOWNLOADING MUSIC.

 

Did you have a sufficient amount of funds in your PayPal account at time of purchase to cover cost of music?

 

If the answer is NO, then PayPal will allow you to purchase music from our store using its "e-check system". This allows the user to still purchase items without physically having the amount of funds in their PayPal account needed to cover the cost of the item. This feature only works when the PayPal customer has a checking account attached to his/her PayPal account. It typically takes approximately 4-7 days for PayPal to extract the funds from the attached checking account needed to cover the cost of the item purchased. Once PayPal extracts the funds from the customers attached checking account, it then can send us the money for the purchase. It is ONLY then (once the PayPal e-check CLEARS!) that the link to the digital music purchased will show up in the customers account "Order History" section.

 

If you have verified that you DO have money in your PayPal account, and a download link did not show up on the bottom of the checkout thank you page and is not visible in your Ntact account order history, then you may email your PAYPAL receipt with your ORDER ID to [email protected] and we will promptly re-set your downloads.

Please note: download links will expire after 7 days, but we will re-set them for you if needed.

 

If the answer is YES, then a download link will be provide once the checkout process is complete or you may simply click on the "Order History" button in your HipHopDownloads.ca Account Page or on the bottom navigation bar of our website and follow the rules listed below...

Is this simpler/easier to understand? Anyway if you are not going to change it then read it through slowly and spot the missing words. You could also put a link to the my accounts section in the verbiage.

 

You can buy tracks even if you don't have sufficient funds in your paypal account using their "e-check system". Wow, what a nice site! Maybe it doesn't look quite hip-hoppy enough, but it is really nice - extremely clean, well balanced - everything seems to be very well polished - from the buttons to the header to the music player. It also seems like a really good idea for a website. Something that might be cool is to do a little flash or animated gif with the equalizer in the header - just to have it move a little.

 

A couple other little things - link the header image to your home page - when you are outside of the store (in artists_submit), it would be easier to get back to the store using the header link.

 

It seems like you don't need the quantity field in your shopping cart.

 

You have your hours of operation on the Contact Us page but don't have a phone number.

 

Change the New Products heading to New Releases or something similar - too much of a hold over from a standard osCommerce store.

Geoffrey - I will have a look at that. Ntact is my record label, I run a similar ocsommerce store for that, which is where this idea came from. Customer support can be reached by the contact us link in the login box in the header. All the links are present on that page - account history, account and customer support.

 

Tastar - There is a link in the header to get back to the catalog from the artist submit page. I still need the quanity because we still sell physical products. That is also why there is a new products page to list everything not just music.

You and I know that, my point is would a first time customer, wouldn't they be looking for customer support and not contact us?. Make it easy for the first time user.

well, i almost ALWAYS look for customer support in the contact us page.. but thats just me. You can have two links pointing to the same place, its not a BAD thing.

 

I love your site, VERY well done and professional.. I do think that your "sell your music" page needs some work. I think you should add the right and left columns as includes.. it is just hard to get anywhere from that page. The two text links on the top of that page are out of place and the ARTIST AREA is on two lines in firefox

 

your site also loaded very slow for me, and i have a rather quick computer, not sure if its my cpu or you, but just an FYI

 

i do think a little flash movie for the EQ would be AWESOME!!

resolved the load issue on HHD, thought I installed the 'On The Fly' Auto Thumbnailer using GD Library, but I didn't. Got the load time down to 7.64 sec.

It will work with categories, mine is linked with the featured product module. You would just need to changed the db query to only select categories. The original code selects new products.

Because we offer digital downloads there are only a few card processor available and they are very pricey.

Well, i like it.. I am going to be installing this on my site eventaully.. just not tonight. I already almost had a breakdown trying to get everything ready for tomorrow.. so i'm just not ready for that big of a contribution tonight.
