Additional Text Box in Product Box

Hi all. I was wondering if there is any way to add a 'text box' in the product box. For example, im selling cuddly toys with customisable t-shirts and i would like it for customers to specify there own text before they press add to cart. Is it possible to do this or would it mess the shopping cart process up?
