Stubbster Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Hi Everyone, Just started a job a couple of weeks ago with this company and I am now working on their website adding products etc and updating it where I can. The Present Shop Gotto say, spent a few hours on this forum tonight and is all looking excellent and this will probably be my first post of many. Anyway lol, just lookingfor some feedback on the site and looking for suggestions on how to improve it. As I said, just started, but changed a few things so far like adding euros etc but not got full control of the site. YET... Going to be adding shop location etc, that is a must but any info on the program etc would be great too, is it an older version etc? Should it be updated and anything else anyone can suggest would be great. Thanks a million in advance Stuart
Guest Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 The shop needs to have the (Powered by osCommerce) in order to receive feedback on this forum. Please read posting rules. Thanks George
Stubbster Posted September 4, 2008 Author Posted September 4, 2008 Sorry George, didn't see that bit. Trying to get control of website from the company who developed it. Will get it updated asap. And update. Sorry again  Stuart

lindsayanng Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 i thought the banner on the footer would be more than enough instead of the text. Stubbster Posted September 21, 2008 Author Posted September 21, 2008 OK, took BIG banner off, to leave on small text...thought the banner would have been better myself but hey ho.. Yeh Lindsay, people that own the shop I took on the website orders, listing and packaging, paid a company to do their site with a template. Not too keen on it myself, hence the changes. As mentioned I plan to put the pwa on as I believe it brings in more business when you dont have to sign up for a site mainly to find a hefty postage price or something on checkout. I also believe people prefer to see how much the real total is before they think about signing up. The columns are too big for my liking so I will be making them narrower and widening the center. Also want to add the address as the people who designed it seemed to think it was better to hide that info lol.. So looking for improvement ideas and comments if possible, hopefully be okay to get them now. Cheers Stuart
lindsayanng Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 personally, i suggest you install a FRESH version of oscommerce. You are going to have a world of issues trying to install complicated contributions like PWA because the file structure is completely different If you arent happy with the look, thne just do it.. You can maybe keep it around to borrow snippets of code from, but i wouldnt use it as my base. A great place for newbies to start Road Map to oscommerce File Structure DO NOT PM ME FOR HELP. ♥geoffreywalton Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 To find out your version go to the admin panel >> Tools >> Server Info. Your address is hidden away in the T&Cs. To update to the latest version will involve a steep learning curve, there is often merit in the old adage if it aint broke don't fix it. You could just change area where you have a picture of your shop to be a banner area and rotate between a picture, location info and offers.
