Hi all - this is my first day as a registered user on here. Ive had the website for a few years now and this is the 1st time ive used this. In fact ive never seen it before.

If you can let me know what you think of my website - doesnt matter how bad it is, id rather you be honest.

www.grampianfishing.com

Many thanks in advance

The header is OK.

The rest is completely standard osCommerce-so my advice would be to give your site a complete makeover to make it look like you have put some effort into valueing your website and customers!

Looks like it is an old version. I see its still using default.php as the homepage. Nothing wrong with that though. Just make sure you search out older contributions if you go to do any addons.

Its basic osCommerce in looks, but for some reason, even after seeing that look so many times, it looks good on your setup.

Your cart is buried though. Its two folders down. /store/catalog/ And nothing is in the sites root. Thats not so good. You could have better results in the search engines if you move it to the root of your site.

You may consider a basic metatag contribution. And SEO urls.

Your site loads fast for me. You could speed it up more buy switching category counts to false in the admin. And if you remove the date and counter from the footer you will cut back some more database queries.

Many thanks for your opinion. I am new to this side of things, so excuse me for my ignorance. What would you suggest doing to upgrade it? And how would i go about doing that... employ someone or can i do that myself?

Thank you again.

Colin - of course you can do it yourself - why not - it depends upon how you are with html css php etc...so how are your skills with that sort of thing?

If you have a small budget, then it's entirely possible to have someone give your site a makeover.

If you have a larger budget, it's entirely possible to have someone give you a full bespoke design.

Agree with some previous comments. Your site is fairly straightforward OsCommerce site, but it functions well.

A few suggestions

. There is no point having selections where only 1 choice is available. Language and Currency boxes could be removed;

. Shipping and Privacy information not completed. Either move from Conditions of Use or remove their headings.

. Images need some work. Thumbnails of the Coleman lanterns for example, look as though someone sat on them. There are a number of contributions that may help. Lightbox/Shadowbox?

. Fishing Availability- Is this functional? How do you book?

To be perfectly honest, the store looks like a cookie cutter out of the box website. I would change the look a bit. I started off with the store you have and now it looks a lot better. You can check it out of you like Visit My Website and see what I am talking about. Other than that, I think you have a great store. You should sell a lot of your equipment.
