normanlamps Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Hello Everyone, I've been on the looking on the forums here for help since I've been working on my site and so far its been a great help. I've been having some trouble with my SSL and the links to https. I searched the forums here for help on this topic and I couldn't really find any topic that could solve the problem. When a customer on my site goes to a secure part like to log in to their account or the checkout process the SSL encryption gives an error stating "This page contains both secure and nonsecure items" I'm not to familiar with SSL and my host installed it. I gave them a call they said the SSL certificate is fine the error is becasue on the secure pages there are links that go to "http" instead of "https". Here is a secure page, the account login page. https://www.normanlamps.com/login.php. In firefox it gives an error of the standard secure lock icon but it has a Red Explanation mark over it. In Internet Explorer a message window pops up again displaying "This page contains both secure and nonsecure items" on every page in the checkout process. I see what the host is talking about as on a secure page all the category links on the left of the site link to "http". Then only some of the golden button links on the top link to the correct "https". Is there any way on secure pages I can make the links on the left and all other links that go to "http" go to "https". Shouldn't it do this automatically? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I hope to remove any error messages as many customers are scared away when they read anything about anything be unsecured.
germ Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 For starters, you have this problem: Google-analytics and SSL, They don't play nice together If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. normanlamps Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 Thanks Germ, Our main site just happened to be the only site that had the older Google analytics code. I changed it to the new Javascript code and it works with no errors in Firefox and IE. It even stumped my host, they couldn't figure it out they thought it was the links on the left giving the error. Thanks again.
germ Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Glad you got it sorted. Links to HTTP sources don't cause the popup on SSL pages just content (scripts and images) from HTTP sources. ;) @sLaV- :P  If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
