bluedolphincrow Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Aanii all, I have finally gotten my new template up and working on my new osCommerce site!! YEAH!! Now, the last small little thing that is not working is the following. When I click log in after signing up I get a 404 page cannot be found error Also when I click on "My Account" link it gives me a 404 page cannot be found error I reuploaded the files and no go. Now the creat account works fine LOL - I am so dizzy trying to get this up I can't see straight. However, I do love this osCommerce so much more than 2 other scripts I used in the past. This is a really wonderful product!! Ok, I thank you for any help at all. Actually, if you can at least tell me how to remove the "my account" at the top and the create account link in the footer I'll do that so I can get my shop open tomorrow. Thanks again have a wonderful night and week Blessings, Bluedolphin
sLaV- Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Can you provide a link to your page so we can examine it
bluedolphincrow Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Can you provide a link to your page so we can examine it Oh yes, I'm sorry I forgot that. Too many hours no sleep I'm afraid LOL Here are the two pages that don't work even though the url's seem to be correct: My Account link leads to this error page well for some reason the other link is working now...gremlins... and my main site is here: Home page to my shop which works great Thank you so very much again!! Blessings, Bluedolphin
sLaV- Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 wow how weird .... everytime i goto access that page i'm being redirected to: https://web180.secure-secure.co.uk/shop/cookie_usage.php the cookie_usage.php page only shows if you have set Force Cookie Use to true in admin section ... but it should only display to people who do NOT have cookies enabled in their browsers (and I do) ... very strange ...... its also being redirected to a secure page ... are you using a shared SSL certificate?? Has your host set one up for you???

Has your host set one up for you??? Wow that is weird. I thought I was being hosted on a dedicated server. That is the ssl url that was plugged into the install procedure, I don't understand how you are being redirected without buying anything either? I'll find out in the morning why I don't have my own SSL certificate. I thought I had that also. Anyway, do you know how to remove the account.php link and the create account link from my site? That way I can build it tonight and test the sales end and if that is working I'll go ahead and launch and then figure this other stuff out as I go. I can always add a sign up link in my emails. Oh that reminds me - do you know how to change the verbage in the sign up email? Thank you again for letting me know. All I get is a 404 error. I'm glad you caught this so I can take that part down for now. Have a wonderful evening and week, Blessings, Bluedolphin
sLaV- Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Its very strange that it is only happening for this one page though...if SSL was set up on your server the other pages like login and create account should be redirected to a secure page ... but their not ... something is not right here .... Yep the links should be in /shop/includes/header.php ... since you are using a template its hard to say ... but my guess would be they would be in there ... have a look through the code here...if you need help finding it let me know ... The verbage for the sign up email can be found in /shop/includes/languages/english/create_account.php at the bottom you will find a few defines that you would need to change ... once again if you need help dont hesitate to ask :) ...I think thats all you were after  ... did i miss anything??

I could have missed them however, my eyes are not very awake any more. And yes, thank you I will rewrite the verbage from the create_account.php in the morning. That will be the easy one. Do you want to take a look at my /shop/includes/header.php to see if I missed the links? Also, who do I have look into this? I already had my host verify that the url they mapped for the SSL was correct. So does that mean I contact the support for the template company? I am thinking of trying to find a free working wedding template and getting my money back from this one. It is a nice template however, their support is very hard to reach and I've been messing around with this for far too long. I need to get my site up fast. So, I think I'll install the 'testshop' I have which is the new osCommerce script into the shop directory and then finding a template I can use for the time being. What do you think? Do you think this is solveable quickly? Or should I just go with a free template for now and do the other template later on? I just noticed as I turned on the paypal payment module that they are asking for a private key. I went to the paypal site and they say the key takes 10 days to get. So I'll look into another payment method for now also. Fast up and selling is what I need right now. After this site is up and going then I can take the time to put my other ones up in whatever time frame they need. I really appreciate your help so very much!!! You are saving my bacon as they say... If you want to take a look at that file send me a pm and I'll send it to you in the morning. I'm on Eastern time and it's a bit after midnight and I'm really sleepy. Also your opinion on whether to ask for a refund from the template or use the default or free template on the new osCommerce script until I get the new template up and running? Have a good night and dream time, Blessings, Bluedolphin

I have done a lot of HTML and just a little PHP so I could not tell if their code was good or not. Anyway I really appreciate your telling me like it is so I know now before I keep wasting all my time hoping the template will get fixed quickly. I will be calling the template people as soon as they wake up this morning. I don't see any need to have you look at the file however, I really do appreciate your offer and help!! I've spent a lot of time reading through this communities posts here and I liked what I read. Very helpful and nice people looking to encourage and also be realistic at the same time. You have also made my year!! I can't tell you (I have lost count!) how many times I've bought a script or system and had months of headaches while the creators tried to juggle all the issues and keep people semi happy so they didn't lose their shirts in the mess. I am a Native Indian from Canada and have been here since I was 12. I love it here, however, I do feel these days there is not enough business with integrity around. Ah...I've found that with you. Thank you so much for helping me out and being honest so I can get my site up fast another way and get back to building my business and enjoying life. I'm gettin too old for these all nighters LOL Do have a marvelous week and I look forward to chatting again and reading your other helpful posts as I learn this OsCommerce system which I really do like so far. Blessings, Bluedolphin
