Add a small image overlay to the thumbnails in product_listing.php

hi,

 

Does anyone have any idea how i can go about editing the product_listing.php so to display an image overlay on some products which may have a special? I was thinking a DIV of some kind and styled in CSS?

 

Has anyone any experience with how i could go about this?
