Change name of 'catalog' folder after installation?

I have already installed OSCommerce and configured it to have SEO friendly urls. Right now the store is working great and exists in the root/catalog directory. I would like to change the name of the 'catalog' directory to be something more consistent with the store.

I have read other posts in this forum that say this can be done but I would like to make sure I understand what files I need to change (.php or .htaccess?) after I rename the directory. I would guess I'll need to to that since it's already up and running

Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks and sorry if this is somewhere on the forum already - looked and couldnt find it! :)

change the name of the folder using your FTP client.

change the includes>configure.php file to reflect the change (replace catalog with whatever you named the folder)

do the same for admin>includes>catalog.php

I have tried this procedure and it doesn't work. I also don't have a catalog.php in admin. Would this procedure be different with the new version of oscommerce? Can someone help me with this? Thanks in advance.

It may help someone else but I feel this post needs clarification

Download the includes/configure.php file to your pc, open in a text editor and change name using find and replace. Close text editor and check the properties of the file are read only. Then upload to original position.

Download the admin/includes/configure.php file to your pc, open in a text editor and change name using find and replace. Close text editor and check the properties of the file are read only. Then upload to original position.

Finally change the name of the folder using your FTP client or in your cpanel.

Thanks for a great product and very interesting add-ons, enjoying the battles but not yet won the war.

Okay I did this but something has now gone very wrong and my shop has completely lost all shape and template and everything....

This occurred because the configure.php file from the admin side of the shop was copied over /includes/configure.php.
