email not sending new acct info

I am setting up the shop and have defined the main email address and set it up in the cpanel.

Also recently registered as a new customer in my own site as a test and the information was not sent to me.

When i ran a test to see if the system will email me my password in case i have misplaced it, it confirmed that it was sent,

but no message has been received in my inbox.

Any recommendations for this?
