Hi

I have noticed the person who posted this contribution says just let him know if you need any help. 3-4 messeges later and still nothing. So if somebody else apart from "FIMBLE" can help i would be grateful, and i suggest if somebody has not got the time to reply to people who need help with installing contributions that they do not post such things attached to the contributions. As they are missleading.

Kind Regards

Free help is offered in the forums not by PM's. People have a life out side the forums. They don't hang out here all day wiating for some noob to have trouble. It helps to give a little more info when you ask for help. There is alot of files on the admin side they just suposed to know where you screwed up at. Even posting the code thats shows might have helped. Sounds like you missed a PHP tag but in what file who the hell knows you didn't say where you have the problem other then in admin. You didn't even say what version od osCommerce your using. Wouldn't hurt to learn alittle bit about what your trying to edit. Like PHP code has to have an opening tag <?php and a closing tag

?> If it is out side the tag it is processed by html. The reason it shows on the page. PM's and comments like you made get you ignored by all the coders.

Hi

Thank you for your reply, i appreciate that you put alot of work into helping people. Yes i am new to this and i would like to lean so if somebody else has this problem maybe i can help out. The problem i mention when i say its in admin is i mean the main screen were all the contols are above the oscommerce logo had the code i entered into "admin/includes/languages/english/categories.php" as though it has been entered either incorrectly or in the wrong place, but i thought i had followed the instructions to a tee. What i am trying to acheive is i have a template which has lighbox already installed and i would like to have the option of having extra images. If the ultra pics contribution is not the answer could you suggest another one. I have searched but cant see nothing lse that can intergrate with ligtbox. Also i am runnning the latest version of oscommerce 2.2. Thank you for taking the time to answer and sorry if i seemed i was a little rude, its just like you say i am new to all this and it can get fustrating when you know what you would like to do but have of way of knowing how to do it.

Kind Regards

Ok now there is some info to work off of. The template changes alot of things thou. Won't find much support here having one installed. They make to many changes to the default code. If that is the code that is showing then you placed it below the closing tag ?> That has to be in the last line of the file.

Hi

Looks like that was what was missing. It is now all in the correct places, it seems though that when i pick which images to put in ultrapics from the admin menu (when puting new product in). They show on the preview screen but when i go to the net to check it they are not there, any ideas why they would not be uploading. Could i have installed a certain section of the code wrong. Which part could be effected?

Thank You

Hi

I have now managed to get the pictures uploaded. The reason it was not doing that was because i had installed oscommerce to a folder i.e /shop and not the root of the directory. Simple i know, but now the problem i am having is the code is all in place apart from the "manual" bits i cant see the correct place to put them, so i think that is the reason that now the smaller images are not showing. The main picture is but nothing else. Can somebody please help me out with this. Thank you

Well just noticed this post!

Truth is I did help around 12 messages in all, and it turns out that it is not enough to post contributions, you expect me to install it too.

The PM conversation with this you started with the pointers and help ending in him sending me the files and basically expecting me to do it for you.

There are many, many people I help out here via PM so many that I have had to change my signature asking people to add it in the forum and not via PM.

I know a lot have this happen to them here…

Some users here take good will and advice, suck it up and never have the good grace to say thank you, we save you a fortune in hireling someone to code for you by adding contributions. I do not want eternal gratitude or anything like.

Just a nod that the help here is appreciated, this forum is intended to help those who are interested in learning about osc and have the expectation to learn through help, not those who want to free load, take and expect it to be done for them.

Look around the web, do you think you will find a much better supported forum for a free package?

I help people because I want to, I choose which topics to answer, if you PM me then you are asking for my specific time and my specific experience, sorry but I have not been to university and worked my ass off to just give my advice to you because you demand it.

Also I will not sort out your store for the same reason.

I will support my contributions and help you sort them out no problem, but I wont just install them because you cannot be bothered to look around the forum.

The contribution is not faulty it was you store, so why does that make it my fault?

Free Store, free contributions, free advise

Hi

Thanks FIMBLE quite a witty response for a Sunday. I PM you because its YOUR contribution and you state "just ask if you need help" which is what i did. I am very gratefull for the help you have given me. Yes you have saved people alot of money. Im sorry if it seemed like i asked you to "install" the contribution for me. The reason is like you say i am new to this and like yourself we all have to start somewhere and my guess work is not that good so it does help to be helped on where to place the necessary code.

So if you could please answer my question on where i need to place the code which needs to be manualy added i would be VERY gratefull.

Kind Regards

Chris
