♥Vger Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I don't see why this is in the wrong forum. Although you can change the "@setLocale" setting in includes/languages/english.php you will find that osCommerce will still use the server time zone for most functions. Additionally, if you are using USA based servers (with USA allocated ip addresses) for a UK or European based website then you can forget about getting good Google search listings for your website. For instance, if you are based in the UK and using a .com domain on a USA based server then you may get good Google search results on google.com for USA searches - but you'll get nothing by way of results for searches provided by google.co.uk for searches within the UK. Going for "cheap" hosting can prove to be expensive. Vger
spooks Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 This was in tips & tricks when I replied, seems to have moved. That issue is delt with in that contrib. I have not had problems getting good ranking on uk sites using US servers. Google is aware sites are often served outside the intended zone, so why should it descriminate? You are also able to inform google of your target zone.
