Hmm....well, to tell you the truth, I don't like the layout, I don't like the background, I don't like the font, you've got standard osc gifs, your banner is, well, not great. Product pics are blurry and squished. I'd focus more on the baby stuff and make the background less feminine to include baby boys. You may want to go through the contributions for a good thumbnail one to help with crispness, and use Spooks Thumbnail contribution for the product listings.

I guess the concept is stay at home moms? When they shop for their infants they can shop for themselves? I don't know about that concept. Maybe it will work. I know that when I was at home with my son, I would want to shop for me anywhere but where baby stuff was! LOL!

Good luck with the store!

I was going to say exactly the same as this.

Thanks for your feedback and for being honest. Unfortunately I'm no wiz when it comes to creating flash banners etc and I'm petrified of trying addons. I tried to add individual pricing and it screwed everything up I ended up installing oscom all over again.

If you could give me some advice on the above things I would be grateful. As far as the osc gifs are concerned I'm working on that but have not decided what to replace them with.

Again thanks Jack

I would say that anything for that should not look 'commercial' that looks very 'commercial', so perhaps a total re-think. Also read the piece in tips on profile instead of account.

Where you are going to have text, keep the background solid. It's too hard reading against a patterned background. I like the feel of what you are trying to do, keeping it 'small town' and 'homey'. That's good. Forget flash, you don't need it. I like your concept of the baby at the computer. Maybe you could run with that, and have babies doing other adult stuff.....pushing the shopping cart, etc.

Keep the pattern to the left and right column and the header and footer. Keep the main content area solid color.

You'll do great!

Thanks Sam for your help, I agree. I'm a person with a sense of humour and I like things to be funny. So maybe that's the line I should take instead of thinking it has to look commercial.

Debora I love your idea of babies doing adult things so I will work on that. I will give you a shout when I've made some changes. I like the header I've got now so I may make a slight change to it and use it. I only discovered how to add a header last night.

Thanks guys

Jack

I have changed a few things, pictures are bigger, changed some gifs, the colour, but still more to do. Can't change colour on corners any ideas how to do so. But is the shop a wee bit better? be honest and harsh I don't mind. But if you don't want me to cry, be nice.

Okay, first off, I think you need a divider between your header and the main store (your navigation bar). You can find that in the css file. Just give it a color and the font a contrasting color and you'll be good to go.

Second, you need a definitive product listing. I would suggest using Spooks "Product Listing Enhancements v1.7". Its in the contributions section. That will help pull your products together. Then, you need to put some definition to your infoboxes. You will also find that in your css file. Again, just give the boxes a color so they feel anchored. I also made the initial mistake of thinking it would look better with them floating free. It didn't.

Try just those 3 changes and see what a difference it will make.
