Modifying customer account info

I don't need date of birth or address and some of the other information required to create an account. All I need is email address, password, telephone number, possibley hotel name and room where they are staying. How can I remove these other fields from being required to create an account. Do I need the address for the credit card billing process?

I'd like to change customer details too. Admin panel lets you remove only some of them. All I need is (nik)name and email at registration. Other information like address and phone number should be required only if customer will decide to buy something. Right now I am getting registrations with names like "qwer dsfg" and phony addresses and phone numbers. So I don't need them at all.
