sLaV- Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 FINALLY PCStudio has gone live - A LOT of mods and a LOT of man hours have been put into this so would appreciate some feedback. Too many mods + our own additions to list so have a look around and tell us what you think. Suggestions/criticism/praise/etc are all welcome :) :) http://www.pcstudio.com.au For dialup users home page might take some time to load due to the product slider, if thats the case just goto a different page. Thanks :)
cg180659 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 i like the color scheme, ALOT!! loving the whats new here thingy you got! NICE lightbox! which addon was it? sweet navigation, nice and bold good job! a really good site with nice contribs that work seemlessly together! SPACE FOR RENT!
Guest Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I love the look and feel. It's got all the bells and whistles, but you've got to do something about the loading time. (I'm on cable, not on dial-up). People won't just go to another page, they'll go to another site. Have you turned on the gzip compression in the back end?

Hi Scott, Thanks mate glad you like :) :) The lightbox is called highslide .. you have to buy a license for commercial use .. not sure if theres a contribution we didn't even look ... we just found it while searching through Google :) Once again thanks for the nice words :) :D I love the look and feel. Have you turned on the gzip compression in the back end? Hi Debby thank you for the feedback ... is it only the homepage that is loading slow for you?? We had GZip compression but have upped the compression rate from 5 to 8 and have gone through some optimizations mentioned on this site like the tep_get_tax_rate optimization and a few others like categories, etc ... i'm thinking its only the index page with the slider thats slowing things down ... have had a few comments from friends and family Australia wide stating loading time is ok.. Thanks again :)
Guest Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Hi, Nice website, looks and functions well - its a bit slow but that could be server location/workload. Just a quick question, I have been looking to use a similar thing here in the UK as your build a PC and would like to ask a couple of questions if you dont mind:- 1. What contrib is it? 2. Do you select the items to go into the list from items already in stock - such as do you tick a box on motherboard, cpu etc to say this is the standard option and then add the upgrade options (and if it does does the upgrade option prices come from your stock prices or do you need to manually enter it. I know its a long winded question but it looks exactly like the type of thing I have been looking for in oscommerce, the only reason I ask it is the above way is how I do it on my existing website (if it makes sence to you). I am looking to change across to OScommerce as i am being ripped of with current ecommerce suppler in Maintenance fees and getting nothing for it. Once again your store looks good. Regards

Regards Hi, thanks for the feedback. The server our site is hosted on is located in Australia so that might be the reason for it being a bit slow in other places - we only sell/ship to Australian residents. Regarding your questions: 1. What contrib is it? - There is no contribution - we coded this ourselves 2. Do you select the items to go into the list from items already in stock - such as do you tick a box on motherboard, cpu etc to say this is the standard option and then add the upgrade options (and if it does does the upgrade option prices come from your stock prices or do you need to manually enter it. - Once again this is NOT a contribution that is set up through the admin section - this is pure PHP coding - we used database calls to display items in the drop down boxes - only selecting items that are in stock. If an item is not in stock - do not display it in the drop down. Then once the database calls are done, we simply categorize them and display them :) Thanks again for the feedback :)
