UPS XML shipping module Requires SSL?

I have errors sent to me when the UPS XML module fails. Here is what I get:

 

Error from cURL: Error [60]: SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details:
error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed experienced by customer with id 4 on 2008-08-09 18:12:29

 

It appears it wants a server SSL. Is this really what it is asking for, and is there any way to use this without the SSL if that is the hold-up?
