Alternate Pricing On Items For Retail Sales

Hi all,

We sell products either paid in full or in monthly payment installments. On my original website, I could have two prices: the full price (say $500) and the first month price (say $35). The customer would select one and the order was fulfilled throughout their online shopping with that choice. Subsequent payments are handled internally by our processing staff, not automated by the website and I need to keep it that way.

I can't find a way to do that easily in osC. I explored the Products Attributes. Looked promising but there a some limitations to hurtle. I need the first month payment price shown, not what the difference is (there is no standard formula to use: 3700 products all different prices and all different payment plans and payment plan lengths).

My goal would be to have an option which shows the first month payment taken from the database (already existing from legacy site). Searching through the forum, I saw some options which use PayPal, but I don't want to do that with everything as the majority of our sales are not through PayPal. Many options referred to "subscription" payments. This isn't really a subscription scenario since the website is only taking one payment (either in full or the first month). It is a choice of have a choice of two prices available to everyone whether they are logged in or not.

Any thoughts on the means to make this happen and manage it efficiently? I'd rather not have to rewrite the cart code to accommodate this - that seems like a pretty massive undertaking.

As a sidenote, does anyone know how to get osC to take a deposit on an item, for example for a pre-release.

Thanks in advance for any help...
