Multiple domains one hosting account

Hi all. This is my first post and I didn’t seem to find the answer in a quick scan of the forums. I am installing OSC for the first time. My question revolves around the fact that I have a hosting account that I have about 5 websites on. The primary domain is a basic html site. I setting up OSC on an add on domain to for a baby furniture/merchandise related site.

My question is, where can I find a good resource that explains how to run OSC from the root of the add-on? As it is now, the catalog is located at public_html/examplesite/catalog. When I visit the domain, I see catalog and cgi-bin links. (I don’t have an index.html page uploaded) I don’t want to have to navigate from the index page. Rather, I want the catalog to be the index page. I tries to install in the public_html root, but it did not function properly. I know I need to modify the directory structure, but not sure what to change.

I also would appreciate directions to a resource that shows me exactly how to set up two OSC sites on one hosting account. (Both as add-on domains)

Thank you.

Provided that you upload the osCommerce site to the root of your web then it should work as anticipated - with the index.php page being served up as the homepage in the absence of an index.html page. Perhaps you uploaded to the wrong place?

Most often the root is either: htdocs, public_html or just html.

Thank you for your reply. So, even though this is an add-on domain, I should upload OSC to the root public_html?

Hi

The "root public_html?" is most often the root of the www.yourdomain.com

the best way to find the www.sub.yourdomain.com folder (subdomain root) if you are on a cPanel host and have Fantastico (this is not the best way to install osC) just set up your subdomain in your cPanel and the use Fantastico to install osC to the subdomain you just in stalled and it should them all work. but I would then find the folder it is installed in then go to Fantastico again uninstall the osC then go back to that folder and install osC your self in that folder.
