johnduo0007 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I have added over 200 products on my oscommerce, but I need to change hosting service because my hosting with globat right now is painly slow. I need to make sure I save all my products correctly, how do I do this? I will literary commit suicide if I loose all my work LOL! :'(
FIMBLE Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Log into your phpmyadmin from your web site control panel, download your Database to your desktop, making sure you check the download options first. I suggest you use the drop if table exists function. Do an install on your new server, or code the configure.php files by hand, then upload your database to the new server. You could also use the admin back up to make a back up and restore on your new server, i have found this way is not as reliable tho Regards Nic Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions

I have backed up through the control panel. However, to do a site backup now, I backup the database in Admin backup and then FTP the entire site. Why could that be a problem?
FIMBLE Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 It is not always but i have had instances where it has not loaded the back up. FTP some times fails even though you get a success message. Its just a fail safe. Why take the chance with your Data? Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions

Well, im located in Spain, so im going with arsys.es, it's a lot more expensive but I have other sites with them and they load super fast. about support, well, i've never had an oscommerce webstie with them so I still have to see.
