copying osc

is it possible to copy my installation of osc onto sum1 elses web server just by copying the files?

 

i have set my site up and a mate wants a site to, i was hoping i could copy files from my web server to his and that would work?

 

OR to make it simpler, if i installed a new osc install onto his server could i then copy the files from mine to his and overwrite so his is same as mine?

 

i understand that i would need to make sure i didnt copy the file with the database settings etc in

 

please tell me if this is possible and if it is which files i must not copy

Yes of course you can copy your site over to another server.

 

1. Take a full copy of the store files.

2. Take an export of the database (preferably through your hosting control panel)

3. Upload all files to new host.

4. Create new database and import from saved download.

5. Change values in catalog/includes/configure.php and catalo/admin/includes/configure.php

6. Change permissions of files in step 5 to 'read only'

7. No step 7 all finished.
