Okay so when a customer goes to checkout, and selects credit card as their payment option, where will oscommerce be sending this money? Is this defined anywhere?

Im sure this is a stupid question.. but seriously

The credit card module is just for testing, the money is never collect and ofcourse do not go anywhere ...

You can use someone like PayPal or you can aquire a merchant account and a payment gateway to process payments.

so assuming you acquire a merchant account. do we configure the modules to push the entries from the end client's credit card input to our merchant account and collect money automatically? or do we check the orders section of our catalog administration interface and have to process it manually? Obviously there would be a time delay with the latter option and most online-shoppers expect immediate payment confirmation these days. Can someone direct me to the thread that talks about this? as i'm sure someone else has asked this.

Thanks!

You also need to get a payment gateway service which are compatible with your merchant account, then dependant on which payment gateway service you sign up for...you use the payment module for that gateway and you are set to go....

Authorize.net is a popular choice for us companies....but there are plenty of others around...
