Please help me fix my category title code

Hi,

I was trying to change some of my code so that instead of "Let's See What We Have Here" or any other message, each category would automatically just have its name as the title/heading. It kind of worked, to an extent, in that now the messages are all different; however, rather than displaying the category name, the category's cPath number is displayed (i.e. the title of the page containing products in the second category is simply "2"). Please help me fix this code or steer me in the right direction to fix this!

I've tested this.

Using this code it will display either the current category name, or the current sub-category name, whichever is applicable.

You should only see "Let's See What We Have Here" if no category or sub-category is selected.

On line 71 you have two of these in a row:

Then after this line you removed a HUGE chunk of code you weren't supposed to.

Restore your backup and try again.

Always do things the simplest way possible, forget making changes in the index.php codebase, there is no need:

Change this:

define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Let\'s See What We Have Here');

To this:

define('HEADING_TITLE', ucwords(strtolower($categories['categories_name'])));

My code works, but burt has definitely has a much easier solution.

In the /includes/languages/english/index.php change this:

if ( ($category_depth == 'products') || (isset($HTTP_GET_VARS['manufacturers_id'])) ) {
 define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Let\'s See What We Have Here');

To:

if ( ($category_depth == 'products') || (isset($HTTP_GET_VARS['manufacturers_id'])) ) {

 define('HEADING_TITLE', $categories['categories_name']);

And this:

} elseif ($category_depth == 'nested') {
 define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Categories');

To:

 define('HEADING_TITLE', $categories['categories_name']);

And it does what you want.

Strangely, I wrote about this very subject today. There is one problem with the above code in THIS post, and I've set a challenge (with a prize, wow!) to see if anyone can find out what that problem is and provide a fix.

The only "problem" I had with the code was that I had a category that started with AAA.

Using your code it displayed as Aaa

I suppose the fix is in what I posted as it displays correctly.

If there's a hard way to do something, I'll usually find it.

Yeah - that was simple formatting I did to a site. Just remove the ucwords and strtoupper

But there is a much more serious problem that can manifest itself in some sites that no-one noticed up till now. I'll post back in a bit.

Oh - no-one took up the challenge, so here you are:

This will show the manufacturers name instead of the category nam when in the manufacturer structure of index.php
