Can osC do this?

I want the product image to change with different attributes in a drop down menu. Eg customer wants a particular screen print on a t-shirt. Customer goes to the screen print design category/product description etc and finds the attributes such as size and colour available. Size attributes imply no real change in the look of the t-shirt but colour does.

So I'd like the image to change when the customer changes the colour of the t-shirt in the product description page. Meaning that the image will reflect what the screen print looks like on a white t-shirt as opposed to a black, green, grey etc etc one.

Can osC do this? and how?

(apologies if this is a really stupid question)

Any comments would be welcome...

Thank you all in advance

I believe with some attribute coding and an Ajax addition, what your asking could be done. However, you would probably require someone to hardcode it for you at a paid level I would think. But, it's a good idea.

Hi

Posted elsewhere on the forums was advice to try these add-ons 'Color Swatches' and 'Product Attribute Pictures'. There's even a sample site on the later. Hope its of use to you too. Cheers for the reply. ATb

apply multi image contribution to the site.

Then upload images like productname_color.jpg.

Apply some ajax and whan a specific color is selected display that colored associated image.

Wiki

The term Ajax has come to represent a broad group of web technologies that can be used to implement a web application that communicates with a server in the background, without interfering with the current state of the page.

i don't think ajax is required. just some javascript that will change the src= attribute of your <img> tag when a new color is selected. maybe this is already handled in the multi image contribution...i'm not familiar enough with it to say. but no sense over engineering things when it's not required. :)

I agree that it is achievable even thru java script. But then You need to have images downloaded with the page.

Hi All

I really appreciate all the feedback. The thread was really about improving the online shopping experience. To this end I've identified beny1949's "Attribute filter Drop-downs" as just about there. Anyone out there fancy/know how to add image functionality to this contribution? You all sound very knowledgeable about this while I'm a newbie to being a newbie. However this does seem to be just what is needed for osC. Its all about the customer finding what they want in the shortest time possible at the end of the day. Hope someone out there can help. Thank you!
