Customer Password Problem

Help - Having a real problem with my site - currently the customer passwords do not seem to be saving when opening up an account. New account can be created, then opened but if the customer logs off and then trys to log back in the password is not seen. The system can e-mail the customer a new password but the new password will not allow the customer to log in. At this point the only way to use the system is for me to delete the account and have them build a new pofile each time they come into the store. IF no ones has any quick fixes, what files do I need to reload to correct this problem

Problem was created 6 months ago when adding a "master password" - reloading the "Login" file corrected this issue. If using a master password to enter customer files double check that is has not overwritten the customers password by setting up a test profile and logging in after this change
