General Contribution Question -

I am getting very confused how to go about downloading what and from where.

 

for example I am very interested in this extra field contribution:

I read over how it is going to work and it sounds great, however I click download and it just downloads a text file but the text file says things are included like this:

 

 

Files to Change:

 

1. catalog\admin\categories.php

2. catalog\admin\includes\database_tables.php

3. catalog\admin\includes\filenames.php

4. catalog\admin\includes\boxes\catalog.php

5. catalog\admin\includes\languages\english.php

6. catalog\product_info.php

7. catalog\includes\database_tables.php

8. catalog/advanced_search_result.php

9. admin/includes/functions/general.php

10. checkout_process.php

11. Language files.

 

The files have already been edited, and are included in this patch. The modifications are described below in case this patch conflicts with another patch.

I know it also says this in the instruction before downloading:

 

Complete package less the files that are not new to this contribution since anyone with other contributions installed would need to manually modify them anyway.

Which took me longer than a short time to figure out what it was actually saying, and when I did figure out what it was saying, I was of course thinking well where are the files that are "less"? Where can I get those at?

 

 

I feel like this is a newbie question so I bet someone answers and probably laughs at me but I'm still trying to get the hang of this thank you alot!

Hi Travis,

 

After looking at the contribution page for that ........yes, its very confusing. I would suggest going down the list to the contribution by Azresta which looks like the last complete addition to the list. The additions by wdepot seem to be small fixes that you may want to look at once you have the contribution installed.

ps, the last addition by vourlismenos maybe something to look as as well if you have a problem with the advanced search crashing.

I actually just clicked the update from Azresta but all I found was a text file. I clicked to download others and they included text files and some patch files but I didn't see where the included files are.

Well you need to download the version that is the full package to get the files. You are better off editing the files anyway.
