bksbeat Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I am trying to add different product attributes for a particular product. Now, i was looking at the knowledge base on this subject and they speak about editing the attributes tab for the product? This is from the knowledge base... "Products Attributes Now, you are ready to start adding Attribute Groups and Attribute Values to your products. Finally, select the product from the Catalog>Products menu in the Administrative Tool. Edit the product, and go to the "Attributes" tab" Now, I dont if I am going crazy, but I dont have a attributes tab? This, below is all I have on my catalog/product page? Now the product in question is under my website www.nontando / Wood Carvings / Blackwood Candle Holder THIS IS WHAT APPEARS AND WHAT i DID UNDER MY PRODUCT ATTRIBUTES SECTION.... So I preuming the info in the knowledge base is wrong and outdated as product attributes is not part of the product edit but a different section, yet I guess they are tied together by the product name? But as you can see I am still doing something wrong as it should be 8" $35. 10" $45, 12" $55 Also, if you go to my website, and select the other sizes, it does change or update anything? I aplogize for the longwinded here, but if I am suppose to have an attributes option on my product edit screen, then where is it?? Thanks, Gary (copy and pasted from my product attributes page) "Products Attributes 1 | ID Product Name Option Name Option Value Value Price Prefix Action 1 Blackwood Candle Holder Size 8" 35.0000 - 3 Blackwood Candle Holder Size 12" 55.0000 + THIS IS WHAT APPEARS UNDER MY CATEGORY/PRODUCT SECTION New Product in "Wood Carvings" Products Status: In Stock Out of Stock Date Available: (YYYY-MM-DD) Products Manufacturer: --none--Burkina FasoCameroonCongoEgyptEthopiaGabonGhanaIvory CoastKenyaMaliMozambiqueNamibiaNigeriaSenegalSouth AfricaSwazilandTanzaniaUgandaZambiaZimbabwe Products Name: Tax Class: --none--Taxable Goods Products Price (Net): Products Price (Gross): Products Description: These spectacular blackwood, or mpingo, candle holders are crafted by Chamania, a hardwood carving and turning group from Mozambique. ♥toyicebear Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 The knowledgebase is for the new upcomming version of oscommerce and as such is not entirely similar with the looks and functions of the current osCommerce version. Attributes are added in admin under catalog >> product attributes If you add + or - prices for attributes , In your catalog/shop side the price of the product will only show this +/- amount after a attribute has been selected AND the product has been added to the shopping cart ... then the new price with the +/- attribute price calculated will show in the shopping cart... bksbeat Posted July 22, 2008 Author Posted July 22, 2008 Thanks Nick, So if I understand you correctly, then I would set it up with my defaut being the 10" at $45 In my product attributes, I would have Value price would be $10 and prefix would be - (for the 8" $35) Value Price would be $10 and prefix would be + (for the 12" $55) Okay, just tested it and it worked. I guess one needs to probably note this to the customer that is will only be reflected in the shopping cart... as when they select another option besides the default nothing is reflected . jhande Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 You can get it to display the actual price in the pull down menu of the product - Original Product = 10" $45 Attributes pull-down = 8" $35 12" $55 See my example here - Aluminum Paint Use this contribution - Actual Price in Pull Down Option Menu I believe I updated to the 1.2.3a version. - :: Jim :: - - My Toolbox ~ Adobe Web Bundle, XAMPP & WinMerge | Install ~ osC v2.3.3.4 -
