Just a word of warning to anyone with this settup.

Do not follow the instructions offered by go daddy in setting up your cert. They tell you to go into plesk, select the domain you want to add the cert to etc. etc.

This does not work, because you only have one ip address that is shared among all the domains you are hosting, you have to add the cert. in your administrators repository-then select it as the default cert.

Took me a while of head banging, and a call to web fusion to confirm this. And to give them there due, webfusion comes in for a hell of a lot of stick regarding there customer service, but i have never had a problem. The girl i spoke to was knowlegeable, helpful and knew exactly what she was talking about.

Go daddy really need to adjust there instructions for vps of this type! Oh well, i can't blame anyone really-lesson learned!

Now because i have used both my cert requests from go daddy playing around with this (you only get two) i have had to apply for a re-key token-And from experience of dealing with them this is going to take ages!

At least i have learnt something today

webfusion+go daddy

combination of too companies really nightmare as both companies with crap support team.

Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here!

8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.

Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.

Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.

I would agree with regards to go daddy, but been with web fusion for around 3 years, only had to phone them twice in that time and on both occassions they were superb. But i do realise i have been lucky! In fact a mate of mine heads up a isp/hosting firm and i know i would get a good deal off him, but to be honest i don't see the point!

Godaddy has excellent support for ssl's for the price, in my opinion. The fact that you didn't know you needed a private IP can hardly be blamed on them. That would have happened with any company you went with.

Quite right Jack:

Yes, totaly my fault-i accept this. What i don't accept is having to wait 12 hours for a response to a problem, which i had to do today asking for a re key only to be told to go into my account to do this! i explained i had used my 2 re-keys in my e-mail to them quite clearly. Now guess what i have to wait another 12 hours. How can that be good support?

You get what you pay for i suppose.

You can call and get an answer in minutes. Of course, you have to pay for the call. If you want free support, then you have wait on them. They are not dealying on purpose (I assume) but have other clients they are responding to. Any business you contact via email will usually say they will respond to your ticket in 24 to 48 hours. That's just the way it is. You can probably get free phone support if you purchase a cert like Comodo. Of course, the cost is three times higher than what you get from godaddy, so you aren't saving anything.

Yes, but when i wait 12 hours for a reply and they clearly haven't read my email properly and respond with useless information, i call that bad customer support.

If you are getting this upset with godaddy's support wait until you have to deal with paypal. Post your hospital room here so others can send you get well cards. ;)

Oh, you got that right! Although this is my first dealings with oscommerce (and i am very very impressed) I have had quite a lot of various web based businesses (some i still run, some i gave up some time ago) and paypal can be an absolute hell to deal with. Having said that, i had a worldpay merchant account some years ago, and i had some fun and games with them too- fraudelent purchases-long story! Buy yes, with paypal i have found almost impossible to deal with if they decide to ear mark you for 'special' treatment! paypalsucks.com has some interesting stories!
