webfusion ssl certificate problems

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a vps with webfusion which comes with a ssl certificate.

Have had nightmares getting it to work with no luck, when i got to https://mydomain.co.uk i get a certificate error saying the certificate has expired (valid until 23/04/08)

Have had enough of this so will probably buy one myself. Could someone reccomend where to go for one at a sensible price?

Also, even though i get the error, it sends me to a placeholder page for https://mydomain.co.uk (like what you get on a new site before you have changed index.html) does this mean i have to move my site to the https folder?

Sorry for all the questions, i am new to ssl!

For a cheaper SSL certs, you can find it at godaddy.com

you dont have to move your files to a https folder coz https is a protocol.

what you need is a valid ssl that is not expired.

How weird is that? I have just done just that! have created the csr, and sent it to godaddy and just waiting for my certificate.

They say it only takes a few minutes to receive the cert, but i have been waiting around half hour? Oh well fingers crossed!

I hope you didn't buy the cheapest one at GoDaddy..I made that mistake..neither IE or Mozilla will recognize the GoDaddy cert as legitimate. OpenSSL certs are inexpensive & never had a problem with one..that's all we use now.
