scandic_outlet Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 hi all experts please help me. I have searched and searchd, but not been able to find someone with the same problem. My shop is located on a server where I have full access to. Bandwidth and serverspace + hardware is not an issue. So - suddently I learn that my SQL database is using extremely much cpu time. When i access /catalog - sometime the shop will load within 1 seccond, and other times (e.g. 5 seconds later), the catalog/index.php will take 40secs. to load up. At the same time, when catalog is running extremely slow, the catalog/admin can easily be accessed without any delays? Does anyone have any input to this here? I am really bewildered - as i have not made any alterations to the sQL database in the last period. And this problem started yesterday mid day. the problem has been constantly since yesterday - and when i check number of visitors in admin, it is not more than normal, between 25-100. so - can anyone give me some ideas how to proceed?? hoping for help. here is the shop link: www.groundstyle.comwww.GroundStyle.com Thanks. ♥geoffreywalton Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Tried it out and got sub-second responses. Thought you had fixed it. Then .... Have your hosts changes anything in their server configuration? Do you have access to your server log? (Some very good clues can be found there.) Are there any unexplained accesses by an admin user? (site hacked) Are unexplained emails being sent? (being used to send spam emails) Have you uploaded any large image files? Take a backup and restore and old copy of your data to see if it is DB related. (Is the DB somehow corrupted?) Have you tried to repair your tables in phpmy admin? Have any indexes disappeared? Have you tried removing the google analytics code, my browser "paused" to download info from there. scandic_outlet Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 hi thanks for your input. first of all - the site has not been hacked. i tried disabling (removing) the analytics code - it did not help. But - i ran some further error logging on the sql databse the last 24H. Now i found something interessting: Everytime the site is down, KEY EFFICIENCY peaks around 100 for longer periods of time. So - any inputs as to why my KEY EFFICIENCY is peaking? or what i can do about it.? Thanks. Dedicated OsCommerce user. 2011 will be the return of OsC
scandic_outlet Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 hi we rolled back to a very old backup of the site(pure php), and now problem is gone. it would seem that some coding that has been done over the last months, somehow build up in the system, and first presented itself as a problem a few days ago. Thanks for all help. now we will begin slowly looking at each modification to see how they querie the database. Dedicated OsCommerce user. 2011 will be the return of OsC
Jan Zonjee Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 now we will begin slowly looking at each modification to see how they querie the database.
