Guest Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I am having a problem with the my site coming up as searchportal.information.com . Here is a breakdown of whats going on. When you type in my website www.paciplushies.com this website (http://searchportal.information.com/index.mas?epl=00500042UVsPWVALXVUMVV8KVgMJQQxVEl4MWxkCDlgTWWddVVgBA1EOAQ) shows up every once in a while instead . Sometimes the correct site shows up sometimes it doesn't..... thats with IE7 and Firefox. If it worked for you the first time just try back later, trust me!!!! If you type the site in without the WWW it works fine every time. ????? This started happening when my host (hostgator) gave me a dedicated IP address for my site when we installed the SSL cert. I have my domain name thru Yahoo and I am using their business mail. So instead of pointing the name servers to my hosting with hostgator we just set up A Records for the new IP Address. I have A Records for paciplushies.com , www.paciplushies.com, and ftp.paciplushies.com all pointing to my new IP address. This has to be set up this way in order for the email to still work thru yahoo's email program and for me to host the site with Hostgator. Neither Hostgator or Yahoo support knows why it is doing this and neither have came up with a solution yet. If you do a search for searchportal.information.com there are a lot of articles about it being a malicious site. Some are talking about click fraud from it and others are getting it as like a browser hijack or spyware on their individual computers. This is happening to me as well as my customers all over the US so it's not something on my computer. and yes, the domains have had plently of time to propogate (5 1/2 days). Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!! Brian
Guest Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Hi Brian, Sure hope you don't have a counter on that site............I just clicked it in FF and IE, but was not directed at all out of 50 clicks. Perhaps the host corrected the problem. Which was my original thought when I read your post. I had a similar problem with a customers sites and couldn't figure it out. When I contacted the host, they said it wasn't there fault. However, shortly after I received an email apologizing for the confusion and that they had ultimately corrected the problem. Chris
Guest Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Well thats crazy because it is still happening to me in Texas and my client in Canada. This is just very strange!!!. I just got off the phone with my host and they still think that the changes to the A Record still haven't propogated, it's been 6 days though so that seems to long to me. They said that Yahoo has it's SOA Expire time set to high (7084000 seconds) . Guess I am going to have to wait it out another day.
