Hi Sam

Thank you for that. Before I did the new install I copied all of the files to a stick. I then created a fresh install with exactly the same file structure before so the database and back up directires etc had the exact same path names as the original installation.

I copied the backup file (in the admin/backups folder) from the original installation to the new installation. I then went into admin and performed a restore using the backup file. It came up wil all sorts of errors, like tabes did not exist etc etc. The installation would not run again. So I reinstalled again.

This time I copied the MYSQL data base files from th eold installation to the new as well as the backup file. Heading back to the admin page to attempt another restore I noticed that all my product information appeared, without actually doing the restore. I then tried to do the restore and it crashed again and I could not access the store.

So prior to doing that final restore I appeared to have my data in the installation by simply copying the database files to the new installtion. Is this going to work for me? Have I actually achieved what I was wanting ie a fresh installation with my old data?

Look forward to your views and thanks again for your help.

Regards

Garry
