Hi All,

I've added as many contributes as possible to make the site look descent...

Give me some feedback to things you like, don't like, and suggestions to improve.

I appreciate you looking and as an added bonus, will give you sky lanterns at cost of $2 each too.

I would love to give you a coupon code, but this contribution is not working properly right now.

Just email me to send you a paypal buy now link, and or instant chat me so I can reduce price for your purchase during your online purchase.

Cheers Everyone, Todd

interesting product.. they might be neat to have for my b-day party..

aside for the product which is neat, i have some suggestions.

The little flash images in the headers are cheesey> they make the site look cheap, i would take them away> ESPECIALLY that smiley face

When you go to enlarge the image of the water lanterns, something happens where a little thumbnail size image shows with like, one petal of a really LARGE image

the bookmark website link should either be the same color as the rest of that nav bar or be somewhere else on the site

I like that you dont NEED to have an account in order to log in

Otherwise, the look is pretty good. The background is pretty perfect for what you are selling

Thanks for your suggestions...

===> for any occasion... just let me know when.

The little flash images in the headers are cheesey> they make the site look cheap, i would take them away> ESPECIALLY that smiley face

===> I have done online orders via phone helping people with checkout, and couple things they pointed out was that they had NO idea there was that shopping cart at the top right... (thus I added the smiley face burnout (taken out, and replaced with '=>' now.

They also did not know those top links took you places which is why I added the other small gifs that are small enough that they aren't so tacky but enough that people look up there (catering to the over 45 crowd).

When you go to enlarge the image of the water lanterns, something happens where a little thumbnail size image shows with like, one petal of a really LARGE image

===> Thanks, I reduced the large picture... try now (I have large monitor, and it works OK on my side) Let me know.

the bookmark website link should either be the same color as the rest of that nav bar or be somewhere else on the site

===> I wanted it near the top, but also not so bright. I will see about changing it.

I like that you don't NEED to have an account in order to log in

===> Good and bad... 30% don't make account, and then they ask me for updates and re-order anyways. but still gotta cater to those folks. Just with there was a quicker checkout method.

I think this is in your footer.php

<table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" height="200">
<tr>
<td align="center" height="200"><img src="images/pixel_trans.gif" border="0" alt="" width="100%" height="200"></td>
</tr>
</table>

It's not doing anything but making the bottom of your extend down an extra 200px. I would remove that part.

===> I have it extended because in Firefox, it will leave the side scroller on instead of always on / off when switching between pages. It was very annoying and this was the easiest fix. I will be adding picture ad there soon to take it's place

I cannot see the "Powered by osCommerce" text displayed on the site.

===> Sorry, removed when re-vamping site.

Keep it coming... Thx.

your New Products For July box overlaps the grey box at the bottom. it makes it look a little messy.

i would still change the text of the bookmark site on there. It just doesnt fit at all. You can make it an image button to make it stand out more..

your images work for me now

===> I took off the little lantern image that was there... I still prefer for it to NOT stand out... kinda hidden, but there ya know... I would like to to change to smaller font and change color, but had a heck of a time trying, so I gave up... and decided to like it instead of hating it. The linking presets I wasn't sure how to add/change. Cheers.

Re. Comments Contribution

Is there a contribution out there where people can add comments on the service... overall comment in the 'Information' box, not just for a product, but service too, where they have drop down list to choose from...

At the moment, I manually put in, but would like an automatic one.

Here is what I have for my other site for people to fill in.

you should not have an issue changing the color of that link. It REALLY needs to be changed.REALLY.

Post the code for your nav bar in the header.php file.

theres got to be a class that it calls for.

I would need to see the ENTIRE code for your header, but basically, to make it look uniform and NOT stand out, you can just have a <td class="navbar" align="center" width="20%">

then you need to make a class in your stylesheet called navbar and tell it what color to use

yep. Since you have a new <td for that, you need to give it a class..

replace this:

<td align="CENTER" width="20%"><?php require(DIR_WS_MODULES . 'mod_bookmarkus.php'); ?></td>

with this:

<td class="headerNavigation" align="CENTER" width="20%"><?php require(DIR_WS_MODULES . 'mod_bookmarkus.php'); ?></td>

then it shoudl blend just fine

===> It tried class, even tried adding <font color=, and still did not change it.

I now added the class... 2 and even changed the color a few times, but did not make a difference... must be because it is a link.

Still stuck....

it is not because it is a link. You have a lot of links on your site and none of them are blue.

Did you try to copy and paste exactly how i told you just to see what it might do. maybe you made your style sheet wrong

You can code and class all you want and it will never change.

<img src="images/bookmark_site.gif"

Look at your source.

<?php require(DIR_WS_MODULES . 'mod_bookmarkus.php');

your calling a file.

<td class="headerNavigation2" align="CENTER" width="20%"><script language="JavaScript" type= "text/javascript" src= "includes/modules/bookmark_us.js"></script><img src="images/bookmark_site.gif" align="absmiddle" alt="" /> <script type="text/javascript"> displayLink("1","http://www.theskylantern.com","theSkyLantern.com","Bookmark Website"); </script><br /></td>

In that file it looks to be calling a script that uses an image to make the link. So you need to edit your gif. or use a diffrent code all togeather to make your bookmark link.

==> I try a gif image later today.

===> All links on the page are blue... just in that dark background that makes it look different.

It is allready using a gif. The code I pasted is from your site.

===> True, but I reduced it to a clear gif (removed square looking book it was), as I wanted hovering effect on words not picture. I need to make new gif with words since words I cannot change color code.

Great product, horrible website.

Mish mash of fonts, colours and styles. I like to see a look that shows the shop owner has thouht about what he wants to convey before starting to build it - yours looks as though you started one thing, gave it up, started a different design, gave it up, started a third and decided to just go with the flow.

Why are new products out of stock?

Posted

I added an image, however, since I am using a contribution, it does not allow the gif to be a link... argh.

here is the code.

if (BUS_SITE) bus_display_link('1',BUS_DISPLAY_IMAGE,BUS_SITE_DEF_IMAGE,BUS_SITE_IMAGE,STORE_NAME,HTTP_SERVER,".");

where the . is, is where words and link go.

Go on the site, and you'll see the picture and . any ideas, ?? using 'mod_bookmarkus.php'

Posted

you added the image in the wrong place i think

Get rid of the "." and just put the " " around the entire BUS_DISPLAY_IMAGE,BUS_SITE_DEF_IMAGES,STORE_NAME,HTTP_SERVER

right now the "." is actually showin gon your table and you can click it and the bookmarks window opens.
