Historian
are there any issues with osc and php5? or its full compatible? I use osC 2.2-MS2 - milestone 2 build 060817. This is working fine on my host's server with PHP v5.2.5, MySQL v4.1.22 and Apache v1.3.41 (Linux) It also works on my home PC (using WAMP) with PHP v5.2.1, MySQL v5.0.27 and Apache v2.2.4 (Win 32) I have had no problems with compatability as far as I know. I don't understand why I am using a later version of MySQL at home. Maybe there is a reason why my host hasn't updated to MySQL 5. Are the Windows and Linux versions the same? There is a school of thought that says that osC 2-2-MS2 is more stable than the latest RC versions. I certainly have found no reason to upgrade. phamau
Hi, I urgently need some help installing Apache and cofigure it to work with PHP. In the end I would like to use these to configure and edit my oscommerce site. After editing the DSO support section of the httpd.conf file ie adding LoadModule php5_module "c:PHP5/php5apache2.dll" AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml .html I get an error when trying to save the httpd.conf file Error states : Cannot create the C:Program Files\Apache software foundation Apache 2.2 conf\httpd.conf file Make sure the path and file name are correct Thanks

phamau
Hi Vals, Thanks for your quick reply. I am so novice in these kind of things. I can imagine I might be attempting to do an impossible job for a mere beginner like me. All I wanted was to be able to customize the look of my Oscommerce shop and by reading online I gather that I need to have PHP and Apache. This is why I was attempting to download these softwares. Would you or ayone out there know the easiest way to go about this. Or direct me to the right direction;I'd appreciate if there is a thread dedicated to these kind of things. Thanks

Would you like someone to pay you for their help installing it too? You should head over to the Apache site and PHP site for help with those things. But what you need to do is buy a book. Ive got a real good one that takes you step by step installing Apache and PHP and mySQL, plus it comes with the softwares and it is an excellent introduction to coding. Its called Sams Teach Yourself PHP, MySQL and Apache All-in-One (Paperback). phamau
Thanks Nick, I will definitely have a look at your proposal. But I wish I would be able to install Apache. I have bought a book that covers all the aspects of designing an Oscommerce shop. I have only just started using it but now I'm stuck on the Apache installation and it doesnt have a section for troubleshooting when installing Apache then configuring it to work with both MySQL ans PHP. Thanks for your suggestions Nick

phamau
Thanks once again Nick, I'm hoping that this will easen things out. Just not sure whether after installing, this will enable easy configuration of the Oscommerce shop. There was some certain things I had to change on the php installation. Let me try this avenue and if I get stuck I'll come back for more help. :( Just realized its 03:13 am. I might need to sleep on it and re-emburk in the morning.
