Trouble with new installation (2.2 MS2)

I'm trying to set up an OS Commerce shop for my mother, using the version 2.2 MS2 which is preloaded on my web host (IX Web hosting). I haven't gotten very far into it, because I've noticed a problem; while I can hit the "buy it now" button from the category index page and the order will process, if I go to the product view and hit "Add To Cart", the screen coming back says that the cart is empty (nothing is added).

 

Since I am just getting started with OS Commerce, should I junk MS2 and try to load the latest RC2a? If so, can anyone point me to some step-by-step instructions? If I stay with MS2, how do I fix the "Add to Cart" button problem?

The problem is not with osCommerce 2.2 MS2 but with the installation, or the hosting.

 

Many people seem to be having trouble with IX Web Hosting.

 

But your website also redirects everything https addresses, which is not normal behaviour for osCommerce. If the configure.php files are set up correctly then most pages will be http and only the checkout and customer account pages will be https.
