stevenryals Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I have an item that's listed under product description as .5 lbs, upon checkout it recalculates the shipping weight to 3.56lbs.. which obviously makes shipping more. for an item I can ship for a couple bucks, it's calculating it with USPS at almost $9... any clues?
jhande Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 What version of the USPS module are you using, the one supplied with osC? I am using USPS Methods 2.9.2 Uppercase fix and no problems found so far. Check the contributions section. That's all I can think of! - :: Jim :: - - My Toolbox ~ Adobe Web Bundle, XAMPP & WinMerge | Install ~ osC v2.3.3.4 -
stevenryals Posted July 8, 2008 Author Posted July 8, 2008 It's the USPS contribution mod (the newest one) but it's always changed my package weight
stevenryals Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 a .5 lb shirt is recalculating to 3.8 pounds? is USPS estimating the weight of a box & packaging? or is this a bug?
Guest Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 a .5 lb shirt is recalculating to 3.8 pounds? is USPS estimating the weight of a box & packaging? or is this a bug? Did you check the tare weight in admin shipping/packaging? The default is 3.
Guest Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 so.. what exactly is Tare weight? It is there to allow you to specify a weight for your packaging materials. My guess is that it is set to 3 to make it obvious that something needs to be adjusted. Glad the problem is solved for you.
stevenryals Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 thanks.. apparently they think everyone is using iron boxes ;)
