Moving hosts

First ask your new host if they will do it - some will. If not, see here.

Jack

My host will not do it....they will just install a new osCommerce, not import it.

I am really lost here. I've tried to move it and update the two config files but they are just not working. No Purchase modules or shipping modules. Cannnot find the backup directory....I'm really confused....not sure where to turn.

How do I move from one website host to another? Do I just copy and paste the data?

Keith

You have to do a file and a database transfer. It's best if you just find a host that will do it for you like mine did. I switched to GatorHost and within a day they transfered over everything and reset all my admin passwords for me (I requested this b/c the account had been hacked on my previous web host's serve and that company was IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of -- no tech support staff or anything. I'm convinced they were operating out of somebody's garage.)

If you already found the host you want to use then you can google web host file transfer companies and there are a few that will do it for you for a reasonable fee. You can always try to knock it out yourself, but I'm going to just assume you'll have a difficult time doing this yourself based on how you phrased your question.

If you do want to do it on your own use the PHPMYADMIN found in your c-panel for transfers.

I know how to do the basic transfers....it is in the details where it gets rough. Modules not working and things like that.

I'm sure it is just nameing problems but I have no idea where to check and change.

Your configure files are probably not set up correctly. This thread might help.

I think I have it all correct, but it still cannot find the Backups directory and the modules

Backup Directory: catalog/admin/backups/

Module Directory: catalog/includes/modules/payment/

I have followed it line by line, obviously I'm still doing something wrong.

Here is my catalog/admin/includes/config.php. I've only left out the server information....

define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'true');

define('DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT', 'catalog/');

define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', 'catalog/admin/');

define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', 'catalog/admin/');

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', 'catalog/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', 'catalog/');

define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', 'images/');

define('DIR_WS_ICONS', DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'icons/');

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG_IMAGES', DIR_WS_CATALOG . 'images/');

define('DIR_WS_INCLUDES', 'includes/');

define('DIR_WS_BOXES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'boxes/');

define('DIR_WS_FUNCTIONS', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'functions/');

define('DIR_WS_CLASSES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'classes/');

define('DIR_WS_MODULES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'modules/');

define('DIR_WS_LANGUAGES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'languages/');

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG_LANGUAGES', DIR_WS_CATALOG . 'includes/languages/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG_LANGUAGES', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'includes/languages/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG_IMAGES', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'images/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG_MODULES', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'includes/modules/');

define('DIR_FS_BACKUP', DIR_FS_ADMIN . 'backups/');

Well, this is wrong:

define('DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT', 'catalog/');

and this is wrong:

define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', 'catalog/admin/');

and this is also wrong

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', 'catalog/');

DIR_FS pathways are the full pathways to the root e.g.

/var/www/html/

/home/public_html/

/usr/local/apache/htdocs/

are just some examples.

...and if you installed in a folder called 'catalog' then you add it to the pathway.

If you don't know what the full pathway is then ask your hosts.

Ok, I've changed it and it still does not work quite correct. My path is /public_html/
