Guest Posted January 1, 2003 Posted January 1, 2003 I need osCommerce check whether a certain weight has been exceeded and if it has disallow the user to checkout. Is that possible? If so how would I go about something like that? Many thanks, Kebab
Longsword Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 Go to your administration module / configuration, find the menu item "shipping and Packaging, There you should have a feature called "Enter the Maximum Package Weight you will ship". Set it to the amount you want. Don't forget to be consise in your weight type, i.e. eigther kg og lb.pds. all over! You properly have to change some text so it match your system. Good luck :) /Jes
Guest Posted January 4, 2003 Posted January 4, 2003 hmm yea I try that but it still lets the user check out. it just makes the shipping cost very high which is not quite what I want. Strange no?
sf7804 Posted January 25, 2003 Posted January 25, 2003 I aplogize for replying to such an old thread, but the way I understand it, when you enter a max package weight, if a customer orders over that weight, it's calculates the rate based on "total weight in cart" / "Max shipping weight" to result in "x" amount of packages, and gives you the rate to ship "x" number of packages with equally distributed weights... make sense? So say you set the max to 30lbs, and someone has 40lbs in their cart, the shipping calcs turn that into two 20lb packages and calculate the rate to ship as two seperate packages.
Guest Posted February 22, 2003 Posted February 22, 2003 That confuses me. What if I have a 100 lbs. package that I only want to have a store pick-up? Does this maximum package weight help me in that situation?
