osCommerce

The e-commerce.

Installing on localhost computer

I have Windows XP SP2 and have just downloaded XAMPP. I have installed XAMPP and started the Apache and mySQL. Then I extracted osCommerce and created a folder on the root C drive. I have placed the contents of the osCommerce/catalog folder directly into the new folder on C drive.

I have tried to get XAMPP fired up by typing http://localhost and nothing happens. Just a blank screen. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?

Hope someone can help me.

Thanks

Kelvin

Well first of all you want to make sure the oscommerce folder is inside the default webroot of the xampp folder. But even if you have got the service running typing in localhost into your browser should bring up a configuration panel which has a orange column on the left hand side.

I tried with xampp and got everything set up except my phpmyadmin wouldn't work as it could not link to the mysql database - even though i had changed all the configuration files accordingly - it just refused to work. I has more luck with the WAMPserver. Fast, easy and worked first time.
